Pediatrics
Dr. John is the only Focus Academy certified doctor in Houston, Texas - We choose to utilize a neuro-tonal approach to chiropractic care - personalizing every visit. We are also the only doctor providing Craniopathy in a 30 mile radius.
Here’s what we know, the brain is not fully developed at birth and its the ONLY system of the body thats not fully developed at birth. We know that the brain develops along a specific trajectory of development.
Your child’s brain grows the most in size during the first year of life and creates the most neural connections witihin the first two years of life.
These neural connections and pathways are the functional and architectural foundation of which we use for the rest of our lives to learn, engage, connect, respond, and navigate through the world.
What we know is that stress that is larger than the body’s ability to handle and adapt to it can alter the way that the brain and nervous system move through development which alters the way the body functions.
Subluxation is the result of stress larger than the body can adapt to. Chiropractic care impacts the way our brain and body handles stress

In time with additional therapy, the child will have a better response to being overwhelmed
We are here to help your child develop, because after all, healthy children turn into healthy adults. As you read above we are the only doc around that has certain certifications to care for your child appropriately. Maybe you had some questions, but let's discuss what it is I even do anyways...
Neurodevelopmental Care
Many neurodevelopmental disorders, such as ADD, ADHD, autism, and learning disorders are a result of a lack of neurosensory integration.
This is the ability to take in, process, organize, and integrate sensory information so that we feel comfortable and secure. We can then respond appropriately to given situations and demands. So how do we do this? Sensory integration: where we learn through our senses. What we see, what we hear, what we touch, and what we experience through the perception of movement from our joints and muscles are our foundations for learning. It is a way to look at how the body and the brain work together to process sensory stimulation.
If a child has a disorganized response to sensory input, there is an imbalance within the central nervous system.
An adjustment to certain parts of the spine can stimulate the two automatic nervous systems: parasympathetic, which regulates a rest and recovery response; or sympathetic, which regulates the fight or flight response.
This adjustment can increase or reduce activity in the nervous systems to bring them back into harmony, allowing the child to handle their environment better. In time with additional therapy, the child will no longer be overwhelmed and hyperactive or underwhelmed and seeking stimulation all the time.
What is Craniopathy
One of the most under looked areas of pediatric growth and development is the proper structure and function of the cranial bones.
While chiropractors traditionally address the bones in the spine, Craniopathy is the art and science of analyzing and correcting the alignment and movement of the cranial bones.
Since 80% of the central nervous system is located within the skull, correcting cranial imbalances not only creates better cranial and facial symmetry but also enhances neurological balance by promoting parasympathetic (brake pedal AKA rest & digest) function of the nervous system rather than sympathetic (gas pedal AKA fight or flight).
Conditions that can and should be managed with the addition of craniopathy include:
- Breastfeeding Challenges (especially gagging and latching issues)
- Cranial Asymmetries
- Plagiocephaly
- Ear Infections
- ADHD
- Epilepsy and Seizure Activities
- TMJ/TMJD
- Migraines
- Learning Disabilities
- Traumatic Brain Injury
